Who we are
Digital Typewriter is operated by Honeyguide LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company. Honeyguide LLC is the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect
- Account details: email address, encrypted password, or sign-in details from Google if you use it.
- Your writing: draft titles, text, word counts, and daily word totals for each draft.
- Subscription records: subscription status, plan and billing period, and an identifier from our payment provider. We do not receive or store your card details.
- Technical data: sign-in times, IP address, browser and device information, and logs needed to run and secure the Service.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To create your account, store your drafts and provide the Service (performance of a contract).
- To manage your subscription and access (performance of a contract).
- To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems (legitimate interests).
- To understand overall usage, such as total accounts and words written, and improve the Service (legitimate interests).
- To comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations (legal obligation).
We do not sell your personal data and we do not read your drafts except where needed to provide support, keep the Service secure, or comply with the law.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host, store and run the Service on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of the subscription, payments, subscription management, tax compliance and invoicing. Paddle processes payment data under its own privacy policy.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants.
- Authorities where required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- A buyer or successor if the business is merged, acquired or sold.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When an account is deleted, we delete or anonymise its data within a reasonable period, except records we must keep for legal, tax, security or dispute purposes. Backups may persist for a limited time before being overwritten.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, download, delete or restrict your personal data, to object to certain uses, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the UK or EEA, you may also complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, contact Honeyguide LLC; we may need to verify your identity first and will respond within the time required by law. You can download any draft, or delete your account and all its data, yourself at any time from the Drafts page.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit and access controls that limit each account to its own drafts. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your data.
Cookies and browser storage
We use only essential browser storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences and hold unsaved work. We do not use advertising cookies. Our payment provider may set its own cookies during checkout.
Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
